FIRST THINGS FIRST

Since questions about my name come up a lot, let me set the record straight: it's pronounced "tie" as-in, "tie my shoe" or "tie the knot." You may also be surprised to learn that "Tyi" is my middle name. Given that my last name is “Want” and there are far too many ways to use it inappropriately in a photography business, “Tyi” seemed like a good marketing choice.

CRAFTSMAN
This term applies not only to my architectural preferences, but to me as a person — in everything I do, I strive to do so with fine craftsman skill. Maybe not as much when it comes to painting beautiful pieces of art, or cooking, or building things from scratch. Although I have done my fair share of crown molding and house painting. That said, I dedicate great energy and time to sharpening my skills as a craftsman photographer. I'm striving to improve all the time. Each year is better than the last.

LOCAL
I grew up in a small town, but I love the big city. My family and I live somewhere in between in a home we built ourselves. I’ve photographed nearly every wedding venue in the greater Houston area, but I am perfectly comfortable shooting anywhere. From back yard afternoon weddings, to multi-day, international extravaganzas, I have been part of it all. The Houston area is my home and I never get tired of home.

TRAVELER
As much as I enjoy being home, I do love to travel, especially when it means working with my wonderful wedding clients around the world. I’ve photographed weddings all over the U.S., in Mexico and Australia. Wherever your vows take you is where we’ll go.

Here are some upcoming travel dates, if you're interested in booking a session (click here to contact).
